Why ZEF’s Global South focus is important
Institutions such as ZEF, which focus on research, education and training with, for and in the Global South, are essential for addressing local and regional needs, building capacity and knowledge exchange, fostering North-South and South-South cooperation and partnership, and promoting sustainable development. It is therefore essential that ZEF works with institutions in the Global South. Institutional benefits for Dilla University in Ethiopia.
Assets: Knowledge creation and exchange
Dilla University in Dilla, southeastern Ethiopia, is one of the institutions in the Global South with which ZEF has been working since 2022. Dilla University has benefited greatly from its collaboration with ZEF, particularly in the areas of capacity building and skills development through joint research projects and conferences. In addition, the university has benefited from knowledge creation and exchange. The partnerships formed through this collaboration facilitated South-South cooperation and knowledge sharing, particularly between Dilla University and Kenyatta University in Nairobi, Kenya.
Future focus: South-South cooperation
We strongly believe that the benefits of this collaboration will extend beyond individual projects or institutions and contribute to the broader goals of promoting knowledge equity and advancing sustainable development in the Global South. ZEF is well positioned to advance knowledge, promote knowledge equity and contribute to sustainable development in the Global South by fostering stronger North-South and South-South cooperation.
